The newly-created Metropolitan Media business encompasses the leading print and digital publications of The Sydney Morning Herald & The Age, Digital Publishing, Fairfax Magazines and Fairfax Community Newspapers.
A unique opportunity has opened up for a talented technology leader to join this fast-growing division as Technology Director, reporting to the Head of Technology and being part of the technology leadership team. This position will have the great opportunity to tap into the technical variety of the various businesses, and meet the challenges that multiple platforms and technologies present. A highly skilled individual, you will bring a blend of experience as a talented technologist and a capable people manager. Working with senior leaders across the Fairfax business, you will need demonstrable experience of having successfully managed and influenced key stakeholders.
To be considered for this role you will need to possess:
- Clear proven history of product and process innovation
- Demonstrated awareness of emerging technology and digital practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of technologies related to online application development, specifically Java and CMS
- Demonstrated capability of translating external trends and theory into product strategies and prototypes
- Proven successful management of teams 10+
- Proven management of projects and budgets of $2M+
- Demonstrated change management experience
- Managing and ensuring products and features are delivered on time and on budget
- Ensuring code quality and promote elegance and simplicity
- Demonstrating problem solving and risk management skills which use creative and imaginative approaches to find innovative solutions to complex issues
- Superior written and communication skills and the ability to liaise with the business to promote change
- Demonstrating an ability to lead design, integration and implementation of cross-function / business unit integration projects and business process to improve business performance
- Accounting and Financial skills
